The Log Supply Charter

The Tasmanian Log Supply Charter is a quality assurance system designed to certify the sustainable management of our forests.

The report "A Review of Log Segregation & Utilisation in Tasmania" by Tom Ryan was commissioned by the Forests and Forest Industry Council (FFIC) and released in April 1999.

Essentially the focus of the study was to characterise & review the existing processes and patterns of log grade recovery & distribution from stump to mill yard.

Acting on the key conclusions and recommendations of the Ryan Report, the Tasmanian forests and forest products industry produced the Tasmanian Forest Industry Log Supply Charter.

The Tasmanian Forest Industry Log Supply Charter was officially launched on the 13th February 2002 with the Government and Shadow Governments bi-partisan support for the Charter.
